The circumstances leading to the abandonment of the event were completely outside of our control. We are currently formulating a report into the circumstances leading to curtailment of the event. On completion of this, we will then be in a position to determine any possible rescheduling of races. We will of course communicate further updates via your Championship/Series Co-ordinators. It would be far more affordable for us paupers if we could have a double-header at a scheduled meeting. I do understand that would not be easy to fix,so it is just a constructive comment.

However, if I'm no longer concerned with the points, it would mean I could drop out of other rounds which will be difficult to get to. (Oulton - Sandie is racing at Silverstone that day, Snetterton - family wedding in Scotland that weekend). It would solve a logistical nightmare and some dosh as well,

We all lost out financially, whatever our budgets...and everyone is in the same boat ( could have done with one on the 7th) and no-one wants any further expense from choice. Having a double-header is unfair in Championship terms to anyone who can't make that weekend wherever it is so lets discount that. Another trip to Donington is unfair to those strapped for cash as they have already "done the money". Simply drop the one event...we did perfectly well last year with 4 Historic rounds and maybe by not extending everyones budgets you will get a few more cars out....or make the historic class at Mallory count. Anyway (to answer my no-brainer friend's question) my feeling is that Donington is a once-great track and on the infrequent occasions when its operational it may still be. Mallory IS always there and operational, always friendly, and you don't have to worry about professional thieves plundering your kit. Call me fussy, but I for one, like to come back from a race to find my tools, phone, laptop, transporter and trousers waiting for me where I left them. Its acceptable having to take support to help you at races, but to need your own 24 hour security ! Barry D.

Posts: 5 (06/20/09 04:02:57) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Unfortunately I can't do 1st Aug but 2nd Aug possible, although it would mean a 'dry' friends social for me on Saturday which'd be a shame as he usually has some fine Port! As others in this chain have commented we've all lost money, most likely Donington is the only player in this situations that has NOT lost money! To offer us the opportunity to spend more [unbudgeted] money to race at their circuit is not the compensation I'm looking for - cash is what I need!! As much as I like the driving Doningtom I am not comfortable with the criminal aspect that is undercurrent there nor am I am happy to support there inept organisation. - surely decent project management should have caught the drainage issue? As for the BRSCC saying the events were 'out of their control' surely they do have a responsibility to represent the competitors interests, as well as there own - or am I being naive? Would a good compromise be that we have a double header at another circuit and the second race is non-championship so those chasing championship points are not so 'at risk'?

I have written to Donington Park circuits to question what their response is to everyone losing money due to their inept circuit preparation. I would also support the BRSCC taking action on behalf of the competitors as it is only in numbers that Donington will even begin to take notice. I would attend should they do the decent thing and offer those who didn't get on track an 'all costs' compensation package. Failing that I have already spent my budget on attending the event that didn't happen so would go for a double header at another circuit.

Dunn and Bradstreet rate them very lowly.. See below Donington Park Listed by Dunn and Bradstreet Following last weeks downpour, flooded track, collapsed tunnels and surface failures Dunn and Bradstreet have now compiled a report on the Donington Park operators financial strength to add to their woes. They report that Donington is in the bottom 2% for prompt payments and therefore "98% of UK businesses have a lower risk of paying significantly late.". Further they were ranked last of 62,353 businesses in the same industry group for financial stability. Since March the owners of Donington Ventures Leisure (Gillett and White) are personally funding the operation after the loss of a backer. All credit to them for doing so while they search for the major backer needed to deliver the circuit works not so much for the British Grand Prix but instead so the circuit can be utilised once again as a mainstay of the British motorsport calendar.

Colin, could I please ask if you have asked the BRSCC for a refund of entry fees for the Pinto field. If not I do not mind asking on every ones behalf, which should not prejudice any relationship you have with all your good work. I actually feel very cross about this and would go into far greater whys and wherefores if people would like me to, than I append here. At the end of the day we have paid for track time we have not had. The weather causing the stoppage but only for an hour or so. I have raced before in worse conditions. I am not a lawyer but think we as a club or as drivers have no recourse to Donington directly. We would have to claim against the BRSCC for breach of contract. They at the moment could not care a toss because they have no loss, it is us who have paid out for our entry, for our support teams and fuel and time to get there. Unless we persue a claim against the BRSCC they will sit back and want to forget about the whole affair leaving us with losses around £30,000 to £40,000 I suggest for the whole pinto field. If we push this onto the BRSCC they will be forced to take the matter further with Donington. WHY ARE YOU ALL BEING SO HUMBLE GUYS?. Would you go into a shop and pay out hundreds of pounds and be happy not to get what you paid for. This really is not on in my book and we should take the matter further if we do not get our refund. WHAT DOES EVERYONE ELSE THINK PLEASE. Regards Charles

Clearly given the mails above this is not the case. Happy to support any action. Clearly if another date available with no entry fees equally happy to support that and suffer the lost 'support costs' myself. Views? Kevin

It might be that all our fees are safe and sound in the SRCC bank account anyway. No doubt Colin will let us all know what the choices are in the near future. I'm not all that keen on going to Donington again. We lost a mountain bike in 2008 and I worried continually this time about our property. I can't really see full grid support at 3 weekends in August. I think it's too much to ask. So I think that we have to agree that the championships are one round less this year and carry the Donington fee over to the Oulton round (if possible) Richard

In fact the rest of the season is difficult for us so we will go with the double header proposal or funds back to the kitty. If anyone is interested we are racing at the Goodwood Revival this year with our 1963 Ginetta G4, Fordwater Trophy on Saturday 19th September.
