Yes, that is true, and Mike bought it off him in 2001 and on to me in 2008.
The question has been did Brian have the replacement tub/car in 'stock' when his friend Harry needed one to repair the Dickinson based car crashed by Alan?

Here is the proposed firing order:

Dickinson sells the Skoda Lola to Harry for Alan to race.

Dropped back for a while!

Info from another web site in response to me trying to find the chassis number of the T492 used to reapir this car in the mid 80's leads me back.

It has been suggested that Mike Turner or Chris Snowden on here might know who sold their T 492 to Alan Humberstone as the repair car to the original T490 HU6.
Also, a car like this was offered for sale by a Brian Davies who lived in the south of England in the 80's.

Sunday hillclmb much better today.
Managed to tweek the gearbox selectors again and even got 3rd several time

Fantastic accelleration when in 2nd and 3rd, bit twitchy under cornering but dampers and roll bars all 'approximate'.

Hillclimbers are like this. When I first started in '92 you only needed a crash hat.

The Curb day was a sudden arrangement and changed several time due to my work 'meetings' so sorry to miss you out.

Loton will be another issue altogether. Hope my gears are there...

The huge task was to move the engine/box back 40mm to finally straighten the drive shafts as much as possible. Took 16 hours to do but so much better.

The car has now come to the stage where it is ready to test on a private day next week ahead of the first hillclimb events at Loton Park.

Hope this short video amuses rather than irritates!
I hope to do one with the body off and running, so not so silent....

Just back from hols, and just emailed as requested.

Getting the tuned car back today, Friday, so the race is now realy on to the Start Line in mid July.

Hello Neil!
Thanks for the kind words. It's been a long hard 9 months of toil, and there has been times when a Pinto with a Hewland was a very attactive solution!
The car is now away for carb tuning and some bits on the engine by a very trusted specialist while I'm away for 2 weeks in Italy. Then flat out to get it to Curborough for a private day to see if it breaks and I can drive it at all...

If all's ok I've entered the car at Loton B meets in mid July...

I will show the pics to Mr Walton in an attempt to shame him into getting that Olympic done. Which still has no engine by the way..........
Why don't you stick a post about the car on the Hagley forum. Might generate some much needed discussion on there as well.

Closing in on finishing the car for its first run. Set all the suspension up using finshing line and a camber guage, not too hard and very satisfying to do. Really pleased as it actually looks straight too.
See how it drives...

Used the Lola factory settings as a starter, but I'm sure there are better ones for hillclimbs.

The Lola T492 Porsche ran for the first time tonight.

3200cc of flat six on webers, 240 bhp/230 lbft.
Still a lot to do, but the light is getting brighter now!

Most of you know what a significant point this is.
Just 6 weeks to go to the first hillclimb/shake-down.

After almost countless hours in the garage the Lola is getting close to firing up, about 3 weeks to go I hope.

Actually finished the wiring, only need one -20 oil sump hose and a can of fresh Optimax and ready to press the button...

To the rest of the car, just the seat (on order from TW Mouldings), seat belts, the rear brake lines and refurb the mag alloy wheels which I prey are not cracked.

I'm sure there is another 20 things to do before the suspension...

Had a surprise phone call from one of this Lola's previous owners, Alan Humberstone, who had heard of the car by chance.

He set the record staight and this clears one or two of the fuzzy areas which i could not resolve, but it is dissapointing news.

However: someone on here might be able to help?

The history up to Tony Dickinson selling the car to Harry Humberstone is correct. Alan had a tough time sorting the front suspension and made several changes inc...

I have a Lola T492 for sale. It has been used as a sprint car with a BDT and FT 200, currently has a Cosworth RS500 big turbo motor, but can be supplied with a new Connaught S2000 motor and a Mk9 Hewland. It has new 2 piece bodywork, and requires minor finishing to return to S2000 spec. Open to sensible offers. Available in Surrey.
